Globalisation, capitalism and neoliberalism can seem to be almost invisible and inevitable forces pervading most facets of our lives. They have become the lens through which we experience and thus, evaluate the world.
Adam Battle's practice looks at this cultural force upon society, how the ever expansionist but banal homogenisation of culture by colonial capitalism changes the world. The changing face of the city, the encroach of corporate chains, supermarkets and global business in both community and politics are all explored as connecting themes of the work. This project has centred around the writings of George Ritzer on the globalisation of nothing and McDonaldization. |
